I came to the Dominican Republic for the first time in 1992. I fell in love with the country and ultimately met my husband and raised our family here. Throughout my lifetime, I have witnessed over and over the benefits of generational wealth and the negative impacts of generational poverty. As a daughter of a scientist it was important to me to find a cure to poverty. As we often say, “Disrupt Poverty “. Educating girls is that cure. I am so incredibly proud of the work at the Mariposa DR Foundation. Our girls are thriving through opportunities, disrupting generational and gender barriers every day. Today I ask all of you-my friends and family- to continue supporting our work so that we can give a hand up to young girls who are helping to elevate their families out of poverty.
