Hello! 

I’m a passionate conductor and educator from the west coast of British Columbia in Canada! I Work with singers of all ages. I spend my time between Vancouver where I teach in the school system and on Salt Spring Island, Where I direct community choirs. One of my favourite things about conducting is the connection that I share with my singers. I love the power of gesture to create something so beautiful without using words!

MY CHOIRS

I’m proud to direct a community choir called Viva Chorale and I look forward to planning and crafting unique concert programs and sharing your music with the broader community!

I teach with the Vancouver Youth Choir family of choirs and work with three classes of VYC’s youngest singers. 

I founded my own youth choir family of choirs, called the Makana Youth choirs which has two levels and singers from grade 1 to grade 9.

I also teach an elementary school choir that is volunteer and runs weekly rehearsals before school. 

My Experience:

I began my post secondary education journey as a jazz studies student and a deep love for the music of Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone and Jazz in general.  I sang in Vocal jazz choirs and solo settings. 

Then came an education degree and an opportunity to direct Viva Chorale! I fell in love with choral music and the connection to text and story and people! 

I recently completed a MMus in choral conducting at the University of British Columbia and am constantly looking for more opportunities to learn and grow! 

I serve as a member of the board of the B.C. Choral Federation. Am a member of Choral Canada and ACDA. 

Full circle, I teach intro to conducting to jazz studies students at Capilano University where I started! It’s wonderful to be able to share my skills and experience.

I’m really looking forward to participating in the Cascade Conducting Masterclass. Not only is it a great opportunity to build my skills as a conductor but to meet others who are also passionate and skilled educators and to grow from their process and abilities too!
