Build the Future: A Home for Peer Leaders in Engineering
Build The Future in Citrus County
Peer Leaders in Engineering is a nonprofit that transforms lives through skill building, mentorship, and community led education. Monthly skill classes are taught, and over the summer a life-changing camp experience for high schoolers occurs, offering hands-on training in engineering, employability, and personal growth.
The impact is real. The demand is growing and now we need your help to grow with it. One parent said, “ My son has learned more in two days than he has in years.” A summer camp participant stated “I am grateful for the learning experience you had offered and giving us the freedom towards our learning and being able to experiment with projects. I look forward to doing it again next year.” Another parent shared, “ I was blown away by how much he came home, knowing. He learned culinary skills, how to read a tape measure, and how to change a tire. I’m so thankful he had a chance to be part of this.” Lastly, a student wrote a letter stating, “ thank you for teaching us about tools and how to build things but also teaching us important life lessons, including how to be a better person and a gentleman. I just want you to know that the volunteers taught us so much and kept us wanting to stay later and come back every day .”
There is already a waitlist in place for next years summer camp without the space to currently serve those kids.
Now is the time that we need help raising $800,000 for a permanent space where youth and community members can come together to teach, learn, and thrive!
Why we need a permanent home:
- More space means working with more students – our current set up limits how many young people we can serve. A permanent building means year round access and expanded summer programs.
- Common Learning Exchange- A hub where local experts teach others from aviation mechanics to machining and everything in between – skills not taught elsewhere.
- Breaking generational barriers – this program equips young people with life skills that help them overcome financial hardship and create their own success. .
Our Goal: $800,000
– Acquisition of building
– Dedicated learning hub and workshop space
– Aviation, Machining and skill training zones
– Community Use Areas

Exclusive Legacy Naming Offer: Build a legacy of learning
Imagine a place where children discover engineering through hands-on camps, adults, learn new trades and skills, and neighbors teach each other what they love – all under one roof. Now imagine that roof bearing your name, forever tied to a legacy of empowerment, education, and community.
The Opportunity:
We are offering a once in a generation chance to name our future community learning center through a legacy donation to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The permanent structure will be a hub for:
- Free engineering camps for youth
- Adult education and skill building classes
- Peer to peer teaching and mentorship
- Community connection in collaboration
With a donation of $1 million you or your loved one will be honored with naming rights to the building, (*board approval) which includes prominent signage on the building, recognition on our website, press releases, and a donor wall dedicated to you or your loved one, along with invitations to all events and milestones.
