The 2025 aParent Miracles Gertrude S. Williams Scholarship Fund
On September 26, 2025—what would have been Gertrude S. Williams’ 85th birthday—a Gift Agreement was signed to establish the Gertrude S. Williams aParent Miracles Scholarship at the University of South Carolina.
This scholarship honors the extraordinary life of Gertrude Williams, beloved mother of aParent Miracles Founder & CEO, Melaine Williams. Gertrude was a devoted mother, a dedicated Charleston County special education teacher for 30 years, and the quiet force behind the vision of the aParent Miracles Foundation. After the sudden passing of her husband, Principal William H. Williams Jr., she raised her two children (Melaine & Billy) alone with resilience, faith, and strength.
In partnership with the University of South Carolina (Melaine’s alma mater), this scholarship will support Charleston County students from single-parent households—students who, like Melaine, embody determination and hope. Once fully funded, it will be awarded every year, in perpetuity, to graduates of Lincoln High, Wando High, or other Charleston County schools.
To make this dream a reality, the aPMF is inviting 50 friends and family to pledge $100 a year (a total of $5000 annually) for the next 5 years. Together, we’ll raise $25,000 to create a lasting legacy that honors Gertrude and uplifts future generations.
Please Give today—and be that miracle for a Wando, Lincoln, or Charleston County student. Your gift keeps Gertrude’s legacy alive and reminds students that the miracles that come with a quality education are still possible!
