Each time I lace up my shoes and run, I marvel that I am STILL HERE! I've set a big goal because it's a big deal to me that after ALL the meanies I conquered in my head, I am grateful I made it to see forty-nine years. That number could have easily been cut short to 25, 23, 17, or sadly 12. Yet here I stand. Still, I run!
Later this year, I will join 11 other mental health warriors in representing Team Still I Run in the Honolulu Marathon. Part of this exciting venture is raising awareness of mental illnesses. The other part is raising money for Still I Run's continued growth.
It's estimated that over 57.8 million people in the U.S. live with a mental illness. Like me, at another point in my life, a large portion of these people possibly feel alone and misunderstood due to the stigma that tends to surround having a mental illness. Still I Run is a non-profit organization that works diligently to help end this stigma through various programs.
Still I Run functions entirely through volunteer efforts and generous donations from people like you. Can I count on you for your support?
