Help Our Seniors: Donate To Our Essential Preventative Care Fund

Moose Lodge is a hospice and sanctuary for abandoned senior dogs. Right now we care for 14 senior dogs at the Lodge, plus 7 more in partner placements, all rescued from shelters and rescues across the country.

With this many seniors, medical needs come up constantly, and lately we’re seeing new symptoms across several dogs, including eye issues, persistent coughing, appetite and digestion changes, skin growths, and other concerns that may be normal aging, or may be signs of something more serious.

Here’s the hard part: we can only treat what we can understand. For senior dogs, Bloodwork and diagnostic tests are essential and can reveal life saving information and help us understand each dog’s individual health situation so we can prevent suffering and respond early when something is wrong.

Right now, we simply don’t have enough discretionary funds to do what’s needed. We can usually manage medications, but exams, blood panels, and diagnostics are where we get stuck, and that means delays we can’t afford when a senior dog is showing signs of decline.

What your donation supports

This fund helps cover:

• Vet exams when a senior’s symptoms change

• Senior blood panels to identify underlying issues and guide treatment

• Essential diagnostics (labs, imaging when needed) to avoid guessing and missed conditions

• A small discretionary buffer so we can bring a dog in when something isn’t healing or is worsening

Our goal

If we can raise at least $2,000 this month, we can run the basic tests we need to get the answers we need for at least half of our seniors in our care.
