Create a Chesed Cafeteria Cart in Yaffe Hospital in Hadera

Dear Friends,

Our family has had the privilege of being involved in the work of Lev Chabad, an organization that operates in Israel’s hospitals 24/7. Today, we’re fundraising to create a new Chesed Cafeteria at the Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. The hospital services 800,000 local residents and numerous army bases in the area.

The chaplains have requested a new Chesed Cafeteria to provide hot and cold drinks, kosher pastries, and snacks to the patients and visitors. All these things will be given out for free, accompanied by a smile and an encouraging word from one of dozens of volunteers.

It costs $12,000 to sponsor a new cart and to cover a year of coffee and food for patients and visitors. It is hard to quantify the value of this Chesed. Many families at the hospital are in financial crisis and emotional distress. They don’t have the extra money to buy the hot drink they desperately need or the pastry that will keep them going after a night of worry and no sleep.

You can have the merit, the zechut, to give encouragement and chizuk, strength, to people during the most difficult times.

What is Lev Chabad:

Lev Chabad operates in 27 of Israel’s hospitals with couples who live and work in the hospitals year-round. They provide counseling and comfort to patients and their families, create Shabbat for 700+ staff and patients every week, operate free coffee and food carts, distribute toys to children, among many other programs.

Five years ago, Lev Chabad undertook a project to build a Ronald McDonald style hotel at Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Since then, thousands of families have been hosted there for free. Two more hotels were built at Wolfson Hospital in Holon and Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.

At hospitals that didn’t have space for such building projects, Lev Chabad spun off a “start-up” renovating Bikur Holim RVs and turning them into apartments in the parking lot. There are currently RVs at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, Hillel Yaffa in Chadera, Poriya in Tiveria, and 2 RVs in Asaf HaRofeh in Tzrifin.
