Ellen Segal's Story

Good day, Folks!

It's that time of year again and Mom has put up that oh-so-cute picture of me and asked me to write a few words about myself and the Walk for Paws.  Now where do I start...there are so many good things to say about myself...

Okay, the real deal is when I was a young pup and Mom first adopted me she was didn't have much money.  I was really cute (well, see for yourself, that's me up there) and Mom thought all the male dogs in the hood would be trying to knock down our fence to get to me.  She knew I needed to be spayed, but how to pay for it?  Mom learned about Animal Advocates of Howard County through some volunteer work she was doing.  They offered to help with the spaying, which they do on a sort of sliding scale depending on your income.  Mom was pretty pitiful at that time, so I got spayed for free.  Next thing I know I'm leaving this vet with this huge lamp-shade thingy around my neck.  I feel like I'm drunk and I'm swaying back and forth.  The funny part was Mom was supposed to keep me from jumping up on things or walking down steps (yeah, right!).

Anyway, you get the gist of it...Animal Advocates does good work through the generous donations it receives.  This time of year for the last five years we have been doing this walk.  We have a great time and get to be part of a great community.

I would like to thank you for visiting my fundraising page!  I hope you will consider donating to this great cause.  Please pass the link to this page to all your friends and family.

Thank you,

Ellen & Athena
