As we track the Chargers by the Sea together, we are raising awareness and money to help provide this opportunity at more schools throughout Carteret County. Each program costs $10,000 and needs sponsors and donations from supporters like you to make it happen.
The Chargers by the Sea, built by students at Beaufort Middle School, is launching in June 2025, thanks to support from the Big Rock Foundation and Carteret Education Foundation. As the first miniboat built locally, this high-tech, sensor-equipped vessel is more than a student project—it's a floating classroom connecting Carteret County to the world. The boat will be launched during the 2025 Big Rock Tournament, and anyone can follow its journey across the ocean. The goal is for it to land in another place, so that students can connect. With our miniboats having made landfall in 36 countries, this mission is a chance for our community to engage with science, geography, and international connections like never before.
Support this incredible adventure—track, connect, and give to help inspire the next generation of ocean stewards 💙
