We at CVRAN are in full mobilization mode thanks to the current and anticipated effects of H.R.1 (the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act"). Every dollar, partnership, and ounce of staff capacity is being stretched to sustain critical support for refugee and asylum seeker families in Central VT. As of October 1, federal food assistance benefits (SNAP or 3SquaresVT) have been abruptly terminated for refugees and asylees. Families are now facing empty cupboards and rising fear. The stakes are higher than ever, and so is our commitment.
We are working to fill this gap, but the scale of need is staggering. CVRAN will be paying more to support our families and more cuts will follow. And yet, many New Vermonters are managing to thrive in this inhospitable climate: working, learning, and supporting themselves and each other. Community is our path forward. We invite you to join us for both the hardship and the hope. Please, volunteer if you have time and donate what you can. Every act of involvement strengthens the future we’re building together.
Thank you for being part of CVRAN.
