Life is the Runway is a transformative fashion experience curated by Matte Black and Casita Prado, featured as part of the 43rd & Vliet Street Project’s community celebration. While the event is hosted by the 43rd & Vliet team, this campaign is solely raising funds to support the production and creative programming for the show. Other sponsors include Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS).

Founded by Milwaukee designer Alyssa Neff, Matte Black is a fashion movement rooted in sustainability, reinvention, and liberation. Using 90% donated or thrifted fabric, Matte Black tells stories of rebirth and resilience through fashion.

Casita Prado is founded by Christina Lopez Prado. With the pillars of sustainability, cultura, and empowerment at the heart of this kids streetwear brand, their mission is to create spaces where children can express themselves, connect with their community, and thrive.

To bring this vision to life, Genisx, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is proudly sponsoring the live music and partnering with Matte Black and Casita Prado to raise $2,750 to support this groundbreaking showcase.

Funding Breakdown:

$1,000 — Honorariums for 2 POC event producers
$800 — Live band performance
$500 — Media Vendors and Printed materials for event promotion and storytelling
$300 — Food and catering for the creative team

$150 — Art supplies for workshops
