Hello everyone! My name is Josie Leddy and I am a sophomore in high school and this is my second year rowing at City Island. Through these past two years I have spent so much of my time rowing, so I can truly say it is and will continue to be one of the most influential parts of my high school career. This team has given me so much - from teaching me hard work and discipline to giving me the best friends I could ask for. The endless support on City Island is incredible, from my teammates, captains, and coaches, and it is what motivates me through daunting gym workouts and cold early morning practices.
We are now in our winter season so we are in the gym five days a week for practice. In order to pay for all of the equipment that we use (boats, oars, ergs, and more), we hold an annual fundraiser, our Ergathon. This year is especially important because the proceeds will help to fund the purchase of our Hudson boats, our new pairs, and a new dock!
As a thank you, my teammates and I will be investing our sweat equity! We will complete a grueling 90-minute endurance piece on the indoor rowing machine ("the erg"). It will be mentally and physically exhausting, but it's for such a great cause, and I will have all of my supporters in mind to keep me motivated.
Thank you again for your support (especially if you have supported me before). I would not be the person I am today without this team and your donation means the world to me!
Please note that City Island Rowing is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and 100% of your donation is fully tax-deductible.
