Hello, my name is Jason, and I am the Executive Director of The Nikao Foundation (nikaofoundation.com), a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit in the United States. For the past 18 years, I've lived in the coastal town of Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica, where I’ve had the privilege of meeting and becoming best friends with Omar Rodriguez.

In 2018, Omar—a visionary and forward-thinker with an unstoppable passion for youth and community— and I started a soccer academy in our town, determined to create opportunities for kids in our small community. Since together in this adventure, and what began with just 18 kids (4 were our own sons) has since grown to over 140 youth from Uvita and neighboring areas. Through his dedication, Omar has made incredible opportunities possible, taking our kids to compete and represent Costa Rica in Panama, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States. He is a dreamer, an innovator, and a force for good, and it’s been an honor to build this program with him.

Now, however, Omar needs our help. Omar’s life has been a journey of resilience. Born with a severe hip problem, he faced surgery at age 10, endured 10 months confined to bed, and overcame countless obstacles to recover. But at 41, Omar now lives in constant pain, struggling with debilitating hip issues that have affected his sleep and quality of life. Without support, he faces a 20-year wait for a hip replacement through the public hospital system—an impossible wait for someone who has given so much to his community.

As Executive Director of The Nikao Foundation, I am personally committed to ensuring that 100% of every dollar raised will go directly toward covering Omar’s surgery and recovery. This is our chance to support a man who has dedicated his life to lifting up others, inspiring and challenging hundreds of young people to dream, grow, and succeed.
