SPONSOR THE SABER FAMILY’S RENT

My name is Julie Gueraseva and I am a long-time mutual aid organizer. During the past two years, I’ve made several trips to Cairo to assist families and individuals evacuated from Gaza, with many of whom I formed close relationships. Through them, I also got to know their relatives still in Gaza. Please join me today in ensuring that the Saber family has a stable home after surviving over two years in tents during a genocide.

Kholud Saber used to have a home she loved in North Gaza, which she shared with her husband and their four children. But they had to flee south in mid-October 2023 after the Israeli army intensified attacks in their area. Their beloved home was bombed and completely destroyed soon after. They spent the next two years living in tents and makeshift shelters, evacuating numerous times from one area to another. There were times they had to sleep on the street. They endured starvation, freezing cold and intense heat.

In December 2025, their situation became dire. Their barebones tent did not withstand the severe storms that hit Gaza. It was completely flooded, with their few belongings ruined. There wasn’t even a place for them to sit down. “For 3 days, we did not sleep,” Kholud told me at the time. The family had finally reached its breaking point.

After arduously searching on foot for days, Kholud finally found an apartment for her family. My fundraising partner Amera Mustafa and I quickly raised the $600 she needed to rent it. For the first time in over two years, the family had a roof over their heads and were able to sleep soundly.

LET’S ENSURE THAT KHOLUD AND HER CHILDREN HAVE A STABLE HOME

Our goal now is to keep the family housed for at least the next 6 months. The first $600 we raised covers the first month. We would like to find sponsors who could cover the family’s ongoing rent through recurring monthly donations.
Housing in Gaza is profoundly scarse. It is nothing short of a miracle that Kholud found this place. This family deserves a roof over their heads and some rest after years of suffering. We must help them stay in this apartment.
