An Advocacy and Action group Powered by Experience

Words Into Reality is a transformative advocacy initiative led by individuals with firsthand experience of homelessness.

Through innovative journaling workshops, participants tackle systemic barriers, brainstorm solutions, and create actionable plans to drive meaningful change.

These workshops go beyond traditional journaling. They are not about self-expression but serve as a powerful tool for systemic analysis and advocacy. Think of them as a union for unhoused individuals—uniting voices, building collective power, and challenging the systems that marginalize them.

The core belief of Words Into Reality is simple: those who have lived through homelessness are best equipped to understand its challenges and advocate for change. By amplifying our unique insights, the project gives a platform to those often silenced, demanding reforms and accountability.

Through structured sessions, participants dissect the obstacles they face and work together on strategies for advocacy.

These insights fuel Words Into Reality’s daily advocacy articles, which educate the public, influence policymakers, and inspire action. Published on platforms like BlueSky, these articles challenge stigma and spotlight overlooked issues.

Beyond advocacy, the project addresses urgent needs through its Crowd-Gifting Program. By leveraging Amazon wishlists, we provide essential supplies to unhoused individuals in Chicago, distributed through partnerships with organizations like the ReVive Center for Housing and Healing.

Words Into Reality is not just a project—it’s a movement led by those who know the system’s failures best.
