Hi, I'm Mac!

I'm a queer and non-binary animal-lover living in Missoula, Montana. Last year I started my own pet grooming business, and I've decided it's time to go mobile!

I'll be renovating a 2006 Ford E450 transit bus and turning it into the perfect pet salon palace! Funds raised from this campaign will go directly to bus paint(it's going to be blue!), mechanical repairs, a solar generator, and any other supplies I need to get the Fluff Bus ready for the wonderful pets of Missoula. Anything helps!

Animals have always been such a big part of my life, and I am currently the proud caretaker of 5 fluff balls of my own, one of which is my perfect son Pepperoni.

Pepperoni was a failed foster, but can you blame me? The pet rescue told me he was having a particularly hard time at the shelter, and would do best in an attentive home while he awaited adoption. He came to me very anxious and reactive, but it was such a beautiful (and honestly healing) experience to help him learn to trust me and be and live a calmer life. I'm not sure what he went through before he came to my home, but patience and love transformed him into a completely different cat.

In our home, we also have 2 guinea pigs (Bandit and Wilber) and 2 other adopted cats (Honey Butter and Eloise)!

I love creating a safe space for these animals, some of which came from difficult or unstable living situations.

With my love for animals growing stronger and my house growing more crowded, I was eager to find a way to combine my love for animals with my day-to-day work. from there- the idea of Fluff was born!

Last fall, my friends and I renovated a small shed at Woof Haven Doggy Daycare. It was a lot of hard work, but taught me a lot about DIY skills and what it takes to run a functional pet salon. I framed in a door, painted the floors, put in ceiling insulation, and overall made a beautiful space I was super proud of.

Over the past year, I've had the privilege of meeting and providing grooming care for about 75 different dogs and cats.

Each one of them has a different story, and enters the salon with a bit of a different energy. It's such a special experience to take pet grooming- something that is typically stressful or frightening for animals- and turn it into an experience both the pet and their owner look forward to.

Although I loved my brick-and-mortar space, it was lacking one big thing- accessibility. I wanted to find a way to bring my work closer to the city, and make a day at the pet salon less of a day trip. Naturally- The idea of the Fluff Bus was born!

I bought the Fluff Bus at the end of September, and I'll be turning it into a full service pet grooming salon- including a 5' wide bath, an adjustable grooming table, and custom built-ins - all by November!

The concept of the Fluff Bus is certainly is thing of beauty, but right now... it's more of a hot mess.

Luckily, I've been utilizing our local tool library - MUD - and their Women-Led Carpentry Workshop (and using lots of trial and error) to build and renovate as much as I can on my own!

With just over 3 weeks to go, I've really got my work cut out for me.

It's going to take a lot of work, and unfortunately a lot of cash! The money raised from this campaign will go directly to bus renovations and put me in a good place for my first winter in a mobile salon.
