We are proud of our history. The late James W. Wilson worked in coal mines to make his way through the University of Missouri and into journalism. And we are optimistic about our future. Co-owner Jane Burns, who emigrated as a baby from Vietnam during the fall of Saigon, represents our new generation.

We work to deliver collective truth to the public square, both challenging and celebrating our region. We are at times, it seems, a life preserver of that truth amid the pitched seas of lies, outrages, misinformation and confusion, all of which are dangerous to a democracy at any time, but deadly now.

The newspaper has been in business in Carroll for close to 150 years, and the Wilson family has been involved in its operation for the last 92.
