Our Story: 50 Years of Bold, Joyful Aging

In 1975, Oakwood Creative Care was founded with a simple but powerful belief: aging shouldn’t mean disappearing. It should mean flourishing. For 50 years, we’ve stood on the front lines of that belief—helping older adults facing dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke, and other age-related challenges reclaim their joy, creativity, and purpose.

We’ve never followed the traditional path. Instead, we’ve built clubs, not institutions. Studios, not sterile rooms. We’ve filled our days with music, paint, laughter, movement, and connection. We’ve watched silent mouths sing again. We’ve seen lonely souls bloom in community. And we’ve empowered caregivers with hope, resources, and relief.

Now, in celebration of our 50th birthday, we’re launching a campaign to raise $50,000—symbolic of each year we’ve been radically redefining what aging looks like.

This campaign isn’t just about dollars. It’s about stories. It’s about every caregiver who exhaled when they found us. Every veteran who painted their pain into beauty. Every member of our Moments Matter Choir who stood on stage and reminded the world that they still matter.
