In Memory of Rick Bratcher

Rick Bratcher
April 14, 1944 - October 19, 2024

Rick Bratcher, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on October 19th, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bloomington in April 1944, Rick led a life dedicated to hard work, family, faith, and kindness. He married the love of his life, Linda, after they met during one of his UPS pickups at her workplace. Together, they shared 56 years of unwavering love and partnership.

Rick began his career at United Parcel Service in 1967, where he spent a decade as a driver before advancing to management. Over the next 20+ years, he built a reputation as a dedicated leader who cared deeply for his colleagues. He retired in 2000 but never truly stopped working—whether it was renting and flipping houses or offering a helping hand to anyone in need.

Rick’s hobbies were as diverse as his passions. He had a love for politics and current events, enjoyed the peace of woodworking and gardening, and cherished days spent taking care of his grandchildren- and eventually his great grandchildren. He was also a devoted mentor to many, offering wisdom, patience, and guidance whenever it was needed.

For over 45 years, Rick was an active and faithful member of Parkside/Bethesda Baptist Church, where he found joy and purpose in serving his community.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda, and his daughters, Stacey (Mike) Mazurek and Jodi (Mike) Trotter. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor (Jake) Fischer, David Steuerwald, and Madison Russel, and a loving great-grandfather to Cooper, Eleanor, Lenox, and Hendrix. Rick was preceded in death by his son, Jim Bratcher, and his parents, David and Betty Bratcher.

The family finds comfort in the love and memories Rick shared with so many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Brady Foundation.

Rick will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and steadfast faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy of love and service will live on in all who knew him.
