About Us:

Our nonprofit organization, Together We Shine Horizons, seeks to provide hands-on experience to students interested in Rocketry. Many students are capable of understanding concepts, theories, and formulas taught at school regarding engineering, but need more practical experience. One of our goals at Together We Shine Horizons(TWSH) is to provide students the opportunity to acquire real-world engineering skills and to spark a lifelong interest in students about Rocketry.

TWSH is also competing in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC), in which we are challenged to create a rocket that reaches 835 feet altitude and has 41-44 second flight durations. Spending up to 15 hours per week building, programming, and testing the rockets over the past two years has proved great results in this competition. Titled as one of the most advanced rockets created in the entire competition, Zenith became an important part of TWSH. Zenith rockets utilize a variety of active control systems and sensors to reach our goals. Implementing flight computers to Zenith, we were able to track acceleration, gyroscopic, and altitude data. One of our unique implementations of this project is creating the Zenith Stability AFT Unit–one of our pinnacle components to reduce drag and impart spin stabilization. We also created the Smart Parachute Release System (SPRS) to deploy the second parachute to control the duration of the landing. We faced various problems in creating the rockets but endeavored to make the best rocket possible. Next year we plan to compete in the competition, but this time to win!!

Together We Shine Horizons also hosts summer workshops with the help of the San Diego Public Library! Over the past years, the students part of our summer workshop learned about rocketry, built their own rockets, and safely launched them. We have received many positive comments from parents about our workshop as well. Our goal is to recreate the summer program this year but target more members.

Donating to our nonprofit organization can help us acquire more resources required for the summer program, like kits and rocket engines.
