New year, new impact!
Help us enter 2024 with a bang!
2023 began with exciting new endeavors and slowly transitioned into a year of disappointment and financial hardship.
We successfully launched our biggest project to date: Ancient City Cat Coalition, a low cost clinic for cats. Sadly, it did not receive the love and support it needed in order to thrive, and we had to let it go. For now anyway.
But we are determined to honor our mission.
At Murphy’s Kittens, our sole purpose is to end feline homelessness any way we know how.
We dream of acres of wide open space. A sanctuary where all unwanted cats could be safe from the world that had been so cruel to them.
So in 2024 we set our sights on a new goal. A place for the unwanted, the sick and the deformed to live out their days in peace.
A sanctuary would allow for the creation of many programs that would contribute to the end of feline homelessness.
The first of those programs is a wide spread trap, neuter, release program. In many cases, the cats cannot be returned to their original locations due to safety issues or people not allowing them back on the property. With a dedicated place for these cats to go, our trappers can work without limitations.
The second program is called a “safety net” program. This program is for people who are experiencing hardship and lack the ability to care for their cat, but do not want to surrender it to a shelter. The safety net gives people time to work through their situation and allows the cats to return to their homes.
A sanctuary has many benefits for rescues and shelters as well. With a place that will care for their “unadoptable cats”, they will have more resources to continue taking in cats that can potentially be adopted.
We are already taking steps toward our new goal. We have started working with professional fundraisers, and we are developing a comprehensive business plan.
We appreciate the support that so many of you have given us in the past.
But we need your help to step into the future.
We have many special needs cats currently in our care. It costs approximately $5000 per month to house, feed and clean them.
We need to find 200 generous individuals who are willing to donate $50 toward the care of these special cats.
Please donate. If you can’t donate, please share this link with everyone you know.
Thank you and Happy Holidays.
