On May 9, 2024 in Georgiana, Alabama, a severe storm and a sudden tornado swept through, leaving destruction in its path. Among the hardest hit was our beloved Georgiana Opry House, a cornerstone of Butler County's history and heart.

The storm left the Opry House with devastating roof damage, and now, every time it rains, water leaks through, dripping onto our audience area. Trash cans are scattered to catch the rain during performances, a somber reminder of what we’ve endured. The damage doesn’t stop there—inside, the ceiling has begun to deteriorate, forcing us to relocate our cherished after-school music program to a nearby business.

For over 85 years, the Georgiana Opry House has been more than just a theatre; it’s been a gathering place, a stage for dreams, and a keeper of history. It was here, just eight months after opening in 1939, that a 16-year-old Hank Williams Sr. performed with his band, The Drifting Cowboys. That magic still resonates within these walls.
