The community of Mpintsin in the Western Region of Ghana is water starved. People rely on unsafe water sources from a stream and ground water for drinking and domestic use. Today, the women and children in this community spend much of their time in search of water for drinking and domestic uses. This affects the health, education, and economic prospects of women and children as valuable time that could be channeled into economic productivity and education is spent seeking water. Children do not have access to clean water at school, and they often abandon school in search of water from far and near to assist their parents. When funded, this water project will have lasting impact on the lives of women, children and seniors of Mpintsin by facilitating universal and equitable access to safe, sustainable water by connecting them to a water treatment facility.
