Job Title: Construction Laborer

Department: Construction

Reports To: Foreman/Supervisor

Job Summary: The Construction Laborer will assist skilled construction workers in a variety of tasks on construction sites. This role involves manual labor, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with construction tasks:

This may include loading and unloading materials, digging trenches, pouring concrete, and performing other manual tasks as directed.

Operating construction equipment:

With proper training, the Laborer will operate tools and equipment, such as jackhammers, wheelbarrows, and forklifts.

Maintaining a safe work environment:

Following safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and keeping the worksite clean and organized.

Assisting with site preparation:

Clearing debris, leveling ground, and preparing the site for construction activities.

Communicating with supervisors:

Following instructions and providing updates on progress and potential issues.

Qualifications:

Physical Strength and Stamina: The ability to lift, carry, and operate heavy materials and equipment is essential.
Ability to Follow Instructions: Clear and concise communication is needed to carry out tasks effectively.
Commitment to Safety: A strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures is critical.
Basic Math Skills: Necessary for measuring materials and completing tasks accurately.
High School Diploma or Equivalent: While not always required, a high school diploma or equivalent can be beneficial.
Previous Construction Experience: While not always required, prior experience in construction can be helpful.
Ability to Work in a Team: Collaboration with other construction workers is a key aspect of the job.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor Work: The Laborer will work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical Demands: This role involves a significant amount of physical exertion, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Potential Hazards: Working in construction can involve potential hazards, including exposure to dust, noise, and the possibility of injuries.
