The Sandi Bonin-Lanclos Art Program honors the life and legacy of beloved Louisiana art educator Sandi Bonin-Lanclos. Sandi spent her life teaching the transformative power of art, inspiring countless students, families, and communities. After her passing in 2023, we are committed to carrying her vision forward: using art as a universal language of healing, empowerment, and connection.
At NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, in partnership with artists—including some of Sandi’s former students—the Reilly Maker’s Loft and the Van Arsdale Technology Studio, we host Creative Play Day, held every second Saturday, where artists and community members gather to celebrate Sandi’s legacy. Together, we embody her philosophy of mindful making: where every dot, every stitch, every print, and every story helps build a more compassionate and connected world.
Beginning in November, our outreach will extend beyond our walls, carrying art into spaces where it can heal, connect, and transform lives:
Young at Heart – Intergenerational art and storytelling in local nursing homes, connecting youth volunteers with elders through stippling, collage, rhythm, and French/Creole memory circles.
Beyond the Walls – Rehabilitative arts programming for incarcerated men at the Lafayette Parish Re-entry Center, blending drawing, percussion, journaling, and mentorship to encourage reflection and self-discovery.
Hearts in Motion – Inclusive and tactile art sessions for adults with developmental and physical disabilities, using adaptive materials and creative play to nurture expression, confidence, and joy.
Startup Need: A match of $3000 to launch the first year of outreach programs
Full Program Budget: $18,000 for 1 year of Young at Heart, Beyond the Walls, and Hearts in Motion
