Washington Informer 60th Anniversary Legacy Campaign

The Washington Informer was founded in 1964 by the late Dr. Calvin W. Rolark, Sr., and his wife, Wilhelmina J. Rolark, Esq. We honor their unwavering dedication to serving the residents of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Dr. Rolark’s vision was to publish and promote positive news and events that enrich and educate the community while empowering individuals to prosper and support one another.

Washington Informer Charities (WIC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1989, is dedicated to helping children and adults achieve their full potential by enhancing and strengthening their literacy skills. Through innovative programs and strategic partnerships with public, private, and nonprofit entities, WIC creates opportunities for growth and learning. Key initiatives include the annual D.C. and Prince George’s County Spelling Bee, the African American Heritage Tour, and scholarships and internships designed to support aspiring writers and digital creatives.
