The new year has started out with one after another serious medical issue, resulting in multiple large vet bills for our dogs and puppies; which are now totaling over $50,000. Even $5 makes a HUGE difference.

Once K-9 Lifesavers makes a commitment to a dog, we try to do whatever we can to provide the necessary care.

Pneumonia

Carly is just a pup at a high kill shelter in Alabama. Within 24 hours, she needed to be hospitalized for severe upper respiratory issues where she was diagnosed with Pneumonia. Where most in her position would face a certain fate of euthanasia, we move forward with treatment. Carly has been hospitalized since and on oxygen therapy, with vet bills already at $7,000.

Parvo

Six pups requiring hospitalization for Parvovirus. Clement, Wallace, Luke and Paige were also all pups we committed, but unfortunately got sick prior to transport. Fig and Fiona broke with Parvo shortly after coming into our care. They all needed 24/7 monitoring and IVs. Thankfully (and most importantly) they all survived and are all healthy, however leaving us with another $20k of vet bills.

Heartworm Treatments

Due to the cost of treatment and time for rest periods prior and post treatment, most high-kill shelters have no choice but to euthanize dogs who test positive. Last month, we treated five heartworm positive dogs in our care who are all on their way to recovery!

Neglected and Emaciated Dogs Requiring Emergency Care

Both Finn and Ryan came separately into our care. They were both so severely underweight that they required hospitalization to be stable enough to send into foster homes. Both boys are now on the mend.

Plus other cases such as dental surgery, teeth extractions, upper respiratory infections, diagnosis and treatment for mange, along with others...

It is truly difficult to put a price on life and when you look in the face of a sick dog there is no ability to turn away. Currently we owe over $50k in credit card debt and are reaching out to our amazing supporters for much needed help so we can continue our mission to save dogs from certain death.

We certainly dont deserve dogs, but these dogs need us.
