Body and Soul Sovereignty United Aka Bass United is launching a pioneering curriculum for University health science programs using the Two-Eyed Seeing or Etuaptmumk (TES/E) approach — a harmonious blend of Indigenous wisdom and modern healthcare practices. This program aims to revolutionize maternal healthcare by training the next generation of professionals to be more humane, relational, and effective.

Phase 1: Launching With Your Support. Our immediate goal: Raise $10,000 to support 20 BIWOC participants who are under the care of students trained in the TES/E approach. Actively seeking input from the women and listening to their firsthand experiences of receiving maternal healthcare given by these students is pivotal. This engagement not only fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by women of color but also serves as a catalyst for driving meaningful improvements in healthcare services tailored to their needs. Your donation will directly support their involvement, covering essential needs like lost wages, travel, and childcare while they invest their time in storytelling, self-reflecting, interpreting, and offering suggestions for the refinement of the program. This initial phase is crucial for laying the groundwork and providing immediate, tangible support to those at the heart of this movement.

Phase 2 and Beyond: Building a Movement While Phase 1 focuses on immediate participant support, our vision encompasses a broader goal. We aim to involve 100 BIWOC participants in this transformative project, requiring an expanded fundraising target to ensure every participant receives the support they need. More women involved in the evaluation helps to determine the effectiveness of the curriculum.
