About legacy fields

Utah Youth Soccer's Legacy Fields Project is a major initiative designed to be a long-term solution to a consistent and growing issue in Utah: The need to provide quality field space for youth soccer programs.

The funds, along with grants and donations, are used to create and maintain new fields throughout the state for the long term.

Our first Legacy Fields Project in Southern Utah is in coordination with The Shivwits Band of Paiutes. We will be constructing a soccer complex on 19 acres of property situated just 15 minutes outside of St. George at 5861 W Old Hwy. 91 in Ivins.

The Problem: Lack of access to fields

Utah youth sports programs throughout the state are losing access to fields as cities, school districts, and other field operators are faced with a scarce supply of land and increasing demand.

Many soccer clubs simply don’t have a place to play.

High demand increases field rental costs
increase costs passed on as higher club fees
the financial burden to families means fewer kids can play

Why does it Matter?

Enabling our youth to have sustained access to recreation makes for a more healthy and well-rounded community.

The Legacy Fields Soccer Complex at Shivwitz will benefit the community in several ways.
The complex will provide a much-needed location for sporting events such as games and events.
The events held at the complex will increase the number of visitors to St. George, which will strengthen the community’s economy.
This project will also allow the community members to develop a greater understanding of and appreciation for The Shivwits Band and Southern Paiute culture.

Benefits to donating:

Donors may be eligible for an income tax deduction equal to the property's fair market value
donor also may avoid capital gains taxes (if they had sold properties)
