When you give to the American Cancer Society, 100% of your donation stays in Hawai’i to support the Clarence T.C. Ching Hope Lodge® in downtown Honolulu. Hope Lodge® provides a free home-away-from-home for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to O’ahu for treatment.

Cancer patients come to Hope Lodge® Hawaiʻi to receive the best chance of overcoming their cancer diagnosis and returning to a healthy, productive life. In 2024, most patients traveled from Hawaiʻi Island (450+ guests), Maui (220+ guests) and Kauaʻi (140+ guests). The current distribution of island residents is: 49% Hawaiʻi Island; 24% Maui; 16% Kauaʻi; and the remainder with residency from Guam, American Samoa, Mashall Islands, Saipan and other pacific islands.

Our patient support services help people with cancer access the information and resources they need, so that they can initiate, continue, or complete their treatment regimen and focus on getting well. In 2024, we saved guests more than $1.1 million in lodging costs, providing more than 7,045 nights of free lodging and 5,829 free rides to treatment appointments to more than 900 Hawaiʻi residents through our transportation and lodging programs. Today, your donation will stay in Hawai’i and continue to serve as a free resource and refuge for our community. You help us continue to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
