What is Sisterhood Social?
A monthly gathering that offers respite and refreshment for the moms of Unless U and Post Place students.
When do you meet?
The second Tuesday of each month
Why is it important?
As caregivers, the moms of our students are constantly pouring out to meet the needs of their adult children who live with disabilities. Even simple self-care activities that others take for granted–like attending church or meeting friends for a meal–can feel challenging or impossible. The Sisterhood Social carves out space each month for these women to enjoy a meal, a time of spiritual reflection and community with other women who are walking a similar road.
What are the specifics?
We typically have about 30 people in attendance. We like to offer a complete yummy meal, including great desserts.
You can sponsor a meal in one of two ways:
Arrange for catering/drop off of a meal to be delivered to our Post Place campus (2665 Hackberry Road, 35226) by 5:30pm the night of the event.
OR
Donate $350 to cover the cost of food, drinks, paper products, dessert, etc. and let us take care of the details.
Can I come serve the meal and attend the event?
Because we are working to create a safe space that allows for authentic and vulnerable connections, we have decided not to have meal hosts or other guests participate in the meetings. For this reason, we request to have the meal delivered. We, of course, always share with the moms about who provides the meal and they are consistently blown away by the grace and goodness of the community toward them.
