What a year it's been. It seems even more important than ever to be creating spaces for connection and caring for one another. But of course, the bastards in charge of this failing capitalist experiment are trying hard to prevent us from coming together and to keep us isolated, scared, and powerless.
That's where the Southern Maine Workers' Center comes in, providing awesome resources for communities throughout Maine -- political education to help us understand the dire circumstances that we find ourselves in, a mutual aid group that allows us to connect with each other to help where needed, and most recently, a new campaign to fight for investment in better public transportation and divestment from over-policing! The SMWC is also part of a broader coalition of like-minded groups working towards a world where basic human dignity is respected for all people, and where everyone's needs are met, rather than having to fight for the scraps left over from the billionaires' feasts.
That's why we're raising funds to allow the SMWC to continue to function and grow our membership -- because we know there are lots of other people out here in Maine who want the same things.
Now, who's ready for some karaoke?!?
