3rd Annual LIVE & SWEATY TOTAL HEALTH FAIR, scheduled for April 5, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This year’s event promises to be an extraordinary celebration of health and wellness, and we are thrilled to coordinate this initiative with New Song Community Learning Center, and other esteemed organizations. Our aim is to engage and inspire all Baltimore City families.

The LIVE & SWEATY TOTAL HEALTH FAIR is dedicated to exposing attendees to a diverse range of vendors, exercise programs, health screenings, and expert health coaches. Last year, we welcomed 150+ visitors of ALL AGES who explored offerings from over thirty vendors including Baltimore City Health Department, American Red Cross, There Goes My Hero, Healthcare Access Maryland and many more valuable resources for improving community and personal health.

Our motto, “Life is a Workout…Commit to Life,” embodies our mission to illustrate the profound connection between dedication to health and overall life commitment. We want everyone to discover enjoyable and sustainable ways to improve their well-being and have FUN doing it. The health disparities in the Sandtown/Winchester neighborhood are profound and underscore the importance of our work. Here are some critical issues we aim to address through the Live & Sweaty Total Health Fair this year:
Chronic Diseases: Residents face elevated rates of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease, often exacerbated by limited access to affordable, healthy food and healthcare facilities.

Life Expectancy: The life expectancy in Sandtown-Winchester is significantly lower than in more affluent parts of Baltimore, with some residents living up to 20 years less than those in wealthier neighborhoods.

Mental Health: High levels of trauma resulting from violence, poverty, and systemic disinvestment plague the community. Limited access to mental health services makes it challenging for residents, especially youth, to find the support they need.

1. Substance Abuse: Substance use, particularly opioids, is a major concern in Sandtown-Winchester, with overdose rates exceeding the city’s average. The lack of adequate addiction services and prevention programs hampers efforts to combat this crisis.

2. Infant Mortality and Maternal Health: Sandtown-Winchester has one of the highest infant mortality rates in Baltimore, a stark reflection of inadequate prenatal care and broader socio-economic challenges.
