Goal

The goal of this event is to raise at least $10,000 to help cover travel costs for female flag football players, eliminating the financial barriers that prevent them from participating in these life-changing tournaments. This initiative is part of the Jets and Capital event held in Salt Lake City, UT on September 20, 2024. The primary philanthropic element of this event is to raise funds to provide financial support for female athletes.

Background

Youth athletes, teams, and leagues face significant financial struggles, creating barriers to their growth and success. Even when registration fees are covered, transportation and travel costs remain a considerable burden for many families and teams. This is especially true for tournaments that offer competitive, enriching, and fulfilling experiences, often requiring travel across the country—a cost many cannot afford.

Focus

Female athletes, in particular, deserve equal opportunities for development and competition as their male counterparts. Unfortunately, they often lack the same resources. To address this, the RCX Sports Foundation is partnering with Oakley to ensure the best female flag football players in the country get the tournament experience they deserve in January 2025.

Purpose

With the rise of female flag football—now recognized in the NCAA and slated for inclusion in the 2028 LA Olympics—our Females in Flag initiative seeks to support these athletes with financial assistance, equipment, and opportunities they wouldn’t have access to otherwise. Remarkably, 50% of female flag football players have not participated in sports before, making this an important stepping stone for many young girls. Our goal is to expand participation and ensure that more girls experience the benefits of sports, including confidence, teamwork, leadership, and competition.
