The DC Council has passed The Pets in Housing Act! You are invited to join a celebration of this win that will cap pet rent and security deposits, prohibit breed restrictions, and implement pet-friendly shelter options for people in need.

We will be at Dog Daze Social Club, Shaw's new restaurant and bar that is co-located with a dog park. Grab a brew, write a Thank You note to your Councilmember, and hear about next steps for the bill.

Bringing your pup? Dogs are welcome in the dog park! Just know that a) you must register them in advance on Gingr and b) dogs must remain in the dog-park; only humans in the restaurant portion.

People + Paws for Affordable Housing: The coalition is a collective of D.C. animal protection and housing advocates working together to pass the Pets in Housing Amendment Act. Recognizing the important bond between people and their pets, our Coalition aims to ensure that renters and residents facing housing insecurity in the District aren’t forced to choose between a safe place to live and their furry family members.

Members: The GW Animal Law Program, Humane Rescue Alliance, DC Voters for Animals, ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States, Animal Legal Defense Fund, Animal Policy Group, Embark Veterinary, Best Friends Animal Society, Michelson Center for Public Policy, Human Animal Support Services, and individual volunteers.
