Alea Ramsey had an idea. Her goal was to RISE UP & RAISE AWARENESS for Childhood Cancer.

In order to directly impact those diagnosed, she began her grassroots effort to create a nonprofit dedicated to Awareness 🎗️Advocacy 🎗️Assistance 🎗️AYA (Adolescent & Young Adults).

Alea wanted her community and beyond to support her idea :

“a kid diagnosed with cancer, helping other kids with cancer”.

Through COMMITMENT, COMPASSION, INCLUSION, and INITIATIVE, Alea created Bearing Hope 2U. A nonprofit dedicated specifically for supporting those diagnosed with childhood cancer.

IMPACT:

Annually approximately 120 HOPE BAGS are distributed to children with cancer to bring HOPE, BOREDOM BUSTERS, and much needed DISTRACTIONS to those receiving treatment. Games, books, comfort items are just a few items included. PLEASE note: Volunteers support this mission through monetary donations, time, and support. Inclusive to all wanting to help.
Warrior Words blankets are mailed to newly diagnosed patients with cards including additional resources in the area to support the child and the families. Through communication and compassion, BH2U.ORG becomes a safe haven for kindness & kids.
NEW: AYA FOCUS OR AFFECTIONATELY CALLED, IN- BETWEEN-ERS, Alea understood the unique challenges faced by AYA, ages 12-22 diagnosed with cancer. This group of children is underserved as not fitting into the typical children’s hospital, and yet not prepared for adult hospital treatments. These kids are in-between the toddlers and adults in their treatment plans. Alea’s mission continues to BH2U partner with other nonprofits, middle and high schools, and universities to expand our impact. In person events in 2025 will be at TOP GOLF and TBA. BH2U will also be hosting online bimonthly creative community collaboratives to provide the opportunity of providing “in-between-ers” a safe, inclusive environment monitored by adults, but with GoogleMeet sessions based on thier ideas and experiences. BOXES OF HOPE will be assembled by volunteers and mailed each month to AYA members of BH2U as ice breakers to conversation, and creative collaboration.
