That means that while they may be able to read words on a page, they struggle to comprehend and apply the information. They often have difficulty understanding paperwork, avoiding online scams, or helping their children with homework.

Adult learning---whether that’s learning a second language, improving literacy, gaining new job skills or learning gardening---is the often invisible force that builds and sustains strong, loving and resilient communities.
