Since 2020, Vivid Matter Collective (VMC) has stood at the heart of Seattle’s cultural shift — using art to spark dialogue, claim space, and celebrate Black and Brown creativity. Born out of the original Black Lives Matter mural on Capitol Hill, VMC has grown into a trusted force for public art, creative placemaking, and collective healing.

This summer, we’re activating multiple bold, community-driven art programs across the city, and we need your support to make them possible.

🎨 Our 2025 Summer Programs

🖤 5th Annual Black Lives Matter Mural Repaint

A milestone event honoring five years of resistance and beauty. This community gathering brings together original muralists, new artists, and supporters to refresh Seattle’s most iconic street mural and renew our shared commitment to justice.

🌳 Art To The People

Nine pop-up art activations across public parks, inviting people of all ages to make art in the open air. From screen printing and painting to live music and interactive installations, these events bring joy and creativity directly to the streets.

📚 Rooted & Rising

A multi-site collaboration with the Seattle Public Library uplifting the city’s Black archival collections through live art, storytelling, and curated installations. This program bridges generations and reclaims forgotten narratives through community-led interpretation.
