Meet Donovan

Donovan has been incarcerated for almost two years. He grew up in church but never fully lived it out — until he came to Angola. The worship there helped him truly find Jesus. “I was one foot in the world and one foot in the church,” he says. “Now I’ve got peace, even in prison.”

He’s a father to two daughters, Don V and Teagan, who are both six years old. Don V loves to joke around and call him a clown, while Teagan is full of energy and looks forward to telling him about her school days. What hurts most, Donovan says, are the moments he’s missed — first days of school, dance recitals, and cheering them on in the crowd.

Now, he’s looking forward to the father-daughter dance: “It’s going to feel like we’re together outside, not just in a prison visit. I’m really excited.”
