A Summer of Empowerment in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

For the past six months, we’ve been fundraising through happy hour events and crowdfunding campaigns to make Leaders Beyond Borders a reality. Thanks to our incredible community, we’re almost there — just $15,000 away from reaching our full goal.

Building Young Leaders (BYL) is a nonprofit organization that provides enrichment services to under-served youth ages 5–18. Through mentorship, academic support, creative arts, and leadership development, we help young people Grow, Lead, and Thrive.

This summer, we’re expanding our mission internationally with Leaders Beyond Borders, a five-week summer camp in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, in partnership with Atlas International Academy. From July 2 to August 1, we will serve 20 local children through a holistic experience designed to uplift, inspire, and empower.

What We’re Providing:

Full scholarships for all campers
Creative arts, performing arts (including ballet), and cultural exchange workshops
Sports coaching, including tennis and team building
STEM education, Minecraft coding, and entrepreneurship sessions
SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and career exploration through our Career Ballad series
Nutritious meals and daily personal development
Field trips to deepen learning and cultural connection

All workshops will be led by passionate volunteers traveling from the U.S., committed to making this a life-changing experience for every child involved.

Back-to-School Drive – August 2, 2025

In Partnership with the Puerto Plata School District

To close out the summer, we’ll host a Back-to-School Drive, providing 100+ backpacks filled with school supplies to students from over 100 public schools. This initiative will support families identified as high-need by the district, giving children the tools they need for a successful school year.
