Humane Society of Wilkes

Foster Adoption Program

The Humane Society of Wilkes does not have a shelter. The Foster Adoption Committee of the Humane Society of Wilkes works closely with the Wilkes County Animal Shelter to help get their animals adopted.

The Humane Society of Wilkes has multiple foster homes. The foster pets are those who are living in our foster homes. They are available for adoption from members' homes. If the pet is in foster care, prospective adopters may contact the foster person listed in the description or fill out an adoption application.

We also house cats at PetSmart in Wilkesboro located at 1514 Winkler Mill Rd. Ext., Wilkesboro, NC 28697. You can meet and adopt the cats there during normal business hours. If you are likely to adopt, be sure to get there two hours before closing time.

The shelter animals are in pens at the Wilkes County Animal Shelter located at 408 Call Street Wilkesboro, NC, (336) 903-7688. Their hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
