Spring Programming | BlackOut Arts Collective

Founded in 1997 by a group of Black and Brown students searching for voice, belonging, and creative freedom, BlackOut Arts Collective grew into a national movement with chapters in major cities across the country before dissolving in the 2010s. Today, BlackOut has been revived at the best HBCU in the country, Howard University, carrying forward its legacy with renewed urgency and purpose.

This spring, BlackOut is building space for Black artists to create without compromise. Through performances, workshops, and collective gatherings, we center Black expression as resistance, care, and power—prioritizing process over polish and community over spectacle.
