The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library (HBFoL) is raising $2,500 to create mobile libraries to bring reading and literacy to the Hermosa Beach Community!

Who is HBFoL?

The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library (HBFoL) has served Hermosa Beach for 65 years. Our 501(c)(3) public charity is led by a passionate group dedicated to fostering a love of reading and making our library resources accessible to all.

Program Summary

In Hermosa Beach, a vibrant initiative is unfolding that promises to redefine our community's relationship with reading. The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library (HBFoL) is thrilled to launch the Mobile Libraries Program, a dynamic project designed to ensure that everyone, from the youngest readers to seasoned book lovers, has access to a wealth of literature right in their neighborhood.

Activities

Our program begins by supporting the network of Little Free Libraries - hyper-local, mini libraries - that already exist in our community, adding new libraries in carefully-selected locations to ensure no story lover is left behind. To keep these literary oases thriving, a team of dedicated volunteers will man two locally-made Refurrrbished Mobile Book Sidecars to bring fresh books to the network every week, ensuring libraries are inviting, exciting, and well-stocked.

Partners

Success hinges on collaboration. We’re teaming up with Refurrrbished to build two custom-made carts able to carry dozens of books on weekly trips to replenish each mini-library and deliver exciting new reads. We will work with local philanthropic partners and our enthusiastic volunteer network for support and local businesses for sponsorship and visibility.

$2,500 will kickstart this project and bring the joy of reading to the community.
