Donate dollars today to help us purchase those larger sized diapers (size 4 - 6) that we struggle to keep on our shelves. $7,500 is enough for us to purchase 4 pallets of larger sized diapers direct from a distributor at 18 - 19 cents each - cheaper than we can buy them anywhere else! That would be 40,000 diapers packed and ready to be distributed to families that need them right here in the QCA!

But.. Why Diapers?

Diapers are a basic need for babies and young children. They are not covered by government assistance programs like SNAP or WIC, so families with low incomes can struggle to afford them. The National Diaper Bank Network's Diaper Check 2023 found that 47% of families with young children struggle with diaper need. This is a dramatic jump from 33% in 2010 studies. Without enough diapers, parents may face difficult choices, such as whether to spend money on diapers or other essentials like food or rent. Families that do not have enough diapers may not be able to leave their babies in childcare, often leading to absences from work, deepening their financial struggle.

Diapers play a crucial role in maintaining the health and hygiene of babies and in the mental health of caregivers. Insufficient diapers can lead to diaper rash, infections, and other health issues. Babies that are not changed regularly tend to cry more, adding to parental stress and shame. Providing an adequate supply benefits the entire family unit.

By providing diapers through our community partnerships, Hiney Heroes helps to alleviate the stress and stigma associated with diaper need. This support allows parents to focus on other important aspects of their lives and fosters a sense of dignity and empowerment.
