Marrow Mates has created a novel approach to donor recruitment called Extended Family Donor Search (EFDS) which provides a patient-targeted approach using commercially available DNA testing platforms such as 23andMe and Ancestry DNA to identify a patient’s genetic relatives. Marrow Mates works with the patient to create personalized messaging to introduce them to their genetic “cousins”, explain their need, and encourage them to join a stem cell registry to help them and others of similar ethnicity and heritage.
