Why May?
HELPIS has long championed May as the Month of Kindness, challenging individuals and communities to help others without expecting anything in return. Since 2016, Massachusetts has officially recognized May as Kindness Month, and Burlington is leading the charge in making kindness a community-wide tradition.
Schools & SEL Curriculum: Every Burlington school will adopt a kindness theme and perform acts of kindness, incorporating social-emotional learning (SEL) principles already in place.
Kindness Stations: Booths where attendees can write kind notes, donate to charities, or create "kindness rocks" to hide around town.
Ladybug Yard Signs: Kindness will be made visible across Burlington as ladybug yard signs, representing acts of kindness, are delivered to the Common, filling it with a beautiful display of generosity.
Local Business Engagement: Businesses will be encouraged to display ladybug decorations and offer special kindness promotions.
Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to support this community-driven event by sponsoring tables, becoming high-level sponsors, or donating prizes for kindness recognition. Volunteers are also needed to help with setup, activities, and crowd engagement.
