The Vail School District Foundation supports the Vail School District in many different ways but we need your donations to make the supports possible. This year we are focusing on raising funds for mobile calming units.

Mobile calming units would be a valuable asset for the Vail School District, promoting a more inclusive and positive experience for children at school events. These events, filled with excitement and activity, can be a source of overwhelm for some children. unfamiliar surroundings, large crowds, and loud noises can trigger anxiety, meltdowns, or sensory overload.

Mobile calming units would provide a safe-haven within the event itself, a designated space for children who need a moment to self-regulate. This unit could be designed to be visually calming, with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and soothing decorations. It could be stocked with fidget toys, noise-cancelling headphones, and calming activities like coloring books, puzzles, or behavioral support tools. By providing a space to retreat from the overstimulation, a mobile calming unit would allow children to take a break, regulate their emotions, and return to the event feeling refreshed and ready to participate.
