Curious beginners, chess nerds, boxing fans, or seasoned chessboxers - all are welcome at the NYC Chessboxing Club weekly training at the legendary Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn!

Join us for a rotating crew of experienced chess trainers and boxing coaches sharing their knowledge and leading drills to sharpen your mind and strengthen your body. No prior experience in necessary. Please pay in advance and bring your own wraps, gloves, towel, and water bottle (all available to purchase at the gym).

The NYC Chessboxing Club is a partnership between Gleason's Gym owners and Hall of Famer, Bruce Silverglade, Bushwick Chess Founder, Alex Selden, and Chessboxing World Champion / Founder of United Chessboxing, Matt Thomas.

This week's training session will be led by Coach Devon Cormack, brother of GM Maurice Ashley, and a decorated combat sport competitor and coach from Gleason's Gym.

What the heck is Chessboxing?!

Chessboxing is a hybrid sport that combines the board game, chess with the combat sport, boxing. Competitors alternate rounds between chess and boxing until checkmate, knockout, or time out, whichever comes first.
