The purpose of the fund is to defend the Oak Brook Sports Core. This is a 270-acre parcel that Oak Brook residents elected, via public referendum, to purchase from The Butler Company in 1977. The deed to this land requires that it be used as “open green space, natural wooded area, sports, recreation, flood control, storm water management and other such public use.” The Sports Core is zoned as a "Conservation/Recreation District" with specified permitted uses.  A private banquet hall is not ancillary to these uses.  Notwithstanding the deed restrictions and CR zoning of the Sports Core, a subset of Village leadership seeks to enable a private catering organization to set up shop in the OBBT Clubhouse at 800 Oak Brook Road.

The Friends of Oak Brook Sports Core, Inc. is a tax exempt 501(c)(4) organization.  Our purpose is to stop this proposed private development on public land. Please help us keep the Oak Brook Sports Core true to its original purpose.

We are looking for at least $50,000 to fund litigation to stop commercialization of the Oak Brook Sports Core, and to educate the public about the benefits of natural open green space in their community.  The FOBSC has additional funds not reflected on this GiveButter account.
