8th House Residency Benefit

Founded in 2021, the 8th House is an interdisciplinary arts residency program for visual artists and curators located in central Vermont. We are a restorative, non-transactional residency and our mission is to support artists by providing a nourishing and inspiring environment to nurture the creative process. As an artist-directed experience, the 8th House encourages restorative practices, personal development, creative experimentation, and cultivation of new ideas within a unique rural setting.

We welcome artists from all backgrounds and we are committed to eliminating any financial barriers that might prevent artists from participating in our program. Our residency program offers full funding for each artist in residence, regardless of need. Artists in residence are provided with funds to travel to and from our Vermont location, private housing equipped with a studio space, as well as funding for meals, supplies, and any other necessities for the duration of their stay.

In addition, we organize community events including open studios, artists talks, and communal dinners, which are free and open to the public. 8th House Residency believes in cultivating and spreading a culture of generosity and inclusivity.

8th House Residency is a fiscally-sponsored project of The Feminist Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization based in New York, NY. The Feminist Institute's EIN is 82-1159850.
